Here are two of my articles that have been published in Femina

And here are three previously unpublished stories.

Now is the time and place for some culture. Why don't we go and visit Auerbach's cellar? If we go right now, we can hear one of the students singing a song.

Folk tales are culture too! I have retold some folk tales from Asbjørnsen and Moe's collection of Norwegian Folk Tales. Many of these tales are well known, but worth revisiting. Gather the youngest members of the family around the screen and read these aloud:

The following stories are somewhat longer. East of the sun and West of the moon is an unbelievably cute tale about a young girl and a white bear. Little Frikk is a story about a boy who plays the fiddle so people just have to dance. Soria Moria is a story about a boy, Halvor, who rescues three princesses from trolls.

Soria Moria

I have used the original Norwegian text from Project Runeberg site as the starting point for my retellings.

People think they are pretty clever these days. Certainly, technology has advanced to an amazing degree. But do we grow wiser? Goethe's, character Mephistopheles, poured scorn on the thought. Mind you, he was pretty cynical old fellow, but did he have a point? Dig a little and you will find much wisdom in old writings. Here are some pearls that I have stumbled over.

How far back can we go and still enter into the minds of the people who lived in that period? As long as people could transcribe their thoughts into written language, we have hope. Have a look at a little snippet from the first Love story.
